Paw Preference

According to two studies, the answer is YES!: "Just like humans are usually right- or left-handed, cats and dogs are typically right pawed or left pawed. ... If your dog or cat is playing on its back and you put your hand just out of their reach, which paw do they reach for your hand with?" Read more HERE

Also, "science has confirmed what some dedicated owners have long suspected: yes, dogs do have a dominant or preferred paw. A study at Queen's University Belfast found that female dogs tend to prefer their right paw, while male dogs prefer their left. ... Some dogs are "ambidextrous" to begin with and exhibit no paw preference." Read more HERE

Look-A-Likes?

my doggie don't wear glasses
so they're lying when they say
a dog looks like it's owner
aren't they

Dog Days of Summer

The DOG DAYS OF SUMMER are hot, sultry days occurring July and August.

Historically, this period followed the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which Greek and Roman astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad DOGS, and bad luck.

Needless to say, keep your pets indoors, out of direct sun and especially hot cars. Being locked in a hot car can kill within minutes.

If your dog is panting, he or she needs to be in a cool shady area with plenty of clean cool drinking water.

See your vet immediately is your dog is prostate, lethargic or unresponsive for possible heat stroke.

Provide clean cool drinking water Summer, Spring, Winter and Fall.

Always consult your veterinarian if you have any questions about this or any other pet matter.
